The parish Svenarum is located in Småland, Sweden, 40 kilometers south of the town Jönköping, near the lake Vättern. The parish consists of several small villages as for example Svenarum, where the church is located, Hok, Stoarp, Långserum and Hubbestad. The association strives to explore, protect and take care of the local culture of Svenarum.

The association has traced the history of Svenarum back to the Middle Ages. In the 14th century the famous family of Oxienstierna lived in Svenarum. Since then there has been many different owners of Hok and surrounding farms. The trade and industry has consisted of  wood- and ironworks in the last 300 years. Today the Manor of Hook is the most important employer and a nationally famous place where many people travel to play golf and confer.

681 persons emigrated from Svenarum to USA in the 19th and 20th century. The names of all these now departed parishioners has been registered by the association. The associaton has also made records of former crofter's holdings and schools in the parish.

The association of the parish Svenarum owns a folk museum, where old buildings and articles has been preserved through the years.
